Board Member/Elder Development Learning Cohort
EFCA West is pleased to announce a training opportunity for the development and growth of men and women serving as board members or elders at EFCA West churches. This is an off-site opportunity that will be presented using the Zoom platform.
The Board Member/Elder Development Learning Cohort will be led by Bob Osborne, EFCA West’s director of church health, and will include topics such as:
- Understanding Shepherding and Overseeing
- Healthy Board/Pastor/Staff Relationships
- Sustaining a healthy board culture
- What should elders/board members actually do?
- Responding rather than reacting to crises
- Having good meetings
- Exercising good governance
- Sustaining a continuous learning environment
- Pursuing the physical, emotional and spiritual health of leaders
Course Description
The course is designed for both new and experienced board members/elders. Whether your church has elders or some other designation for board members, all are welcome and should equally benefit from the training. The course is designed for board members, so lead/senior pastors should not attend except as part of a group from their church. We recommend that, if possible, at least two board members from a church attend to facilitate implementation of material presented. There will be some recommended readings for those who attend.
Meeting Schedule
This cohort will meet five times for about 2 hours on designated Monday evenings starting at 6 pm (Pacific/Arizona)/7 pm (Mountain) on the following dates. Please note that this schedule is subject to change.
- March 22, 2021
- April 5, 2021
- April 19, 2021
- May 3, 2021
- May 24, 2021
It is important that cohort members participate in the entire course. Please do not sign up unless you will be able to attend at least four of these sessions.
Registration
This course is intended for board members/elders serving churches affiliated with EFCA West and they will be given priority registration. Registrations from other EFCA districts may be accepted if space allows. There is no charge.
